MI Analyst

North East | £35,000 - £40,000 | Permanent

Our client is seeking a MI Analyst to support the MI & Analytics Team with the development and provision of regular and ad-hoc management information, reports and dashboards relating to Complaint Handling and Quality Assurance.

You will report to the MI & Analytics Reporting Manager and work with a small team of MI Analysts to support both the Operations and Change community.

You will have strong technical and analytical skills and be responsible for reporting, analysis and insight within the team ensuring the information is accurate, timely, fit for purpose and insightful.

You will also build strong relationships with stakeholders to gather requirements, build innovative yet easy to use solutions and provide regular actionable insight and recommendations based on the analysis undertaken.

Key responsibilities:

  • Gathering, challenging and clarifying MI & Reporting requirements.
  • Developing knowledge of products, processes and systems and the associated data architecture and sources.
  • Designing, developing, rationalising, distributing and maintaining a suite of Complaint Handling & Quality Assurance Reports and Dashboards on a Daily / Weekly / Monthly basis.
  • Proactively liaising with stakeholders to design Report and Dashboard specifications, using knowledge and experience to make recommendations on what would best serve the Business and Operations.
  • Acting as a trusted partner / subject matter expert on Report and Dashboard design.
  • Ensuring MI is presented in a format to engage the audience and promote decision making and actions.
  • Automating the production of Reports and Dashboards, where feasible and appropriate.
  • Creating and maintaining a set of MI & Reporting processes and procedures.
  • Provide subject matter expertise regarding quality control and assurance techniques for the MI & Analytics team.
  • Provide insight into changing trends in Operational performance backed up by empirical evidence.
  • Identify, investigate and resolve any data issues that arise, monitor the quality and accuracy of data to meet reporting requirements whilst ensuring data integrity.
  • Conduct Training & Competence needs analysis of the current MI & Analytics team and make recommendations to improve the team’s capabilities.
  • Share knowledge, technical expertise and ideas with colleagues within the team and the wider business.
  • Undertake any other ad-hoc duties relevant to the post as and when required.

 Qualifications, Training & Experience

  • Financial Services and Insurance industry experience.
  • Proven experience in an MI and Reporting analyst role.
  • Experienced in gathering MI & Reporting business requirements.
  • Experienced in designing, building and implementing Business Reports and Dashboards.
  • Experienced in automating Report and Dashboard production.
  • Experience in SQL Server, SQL Server Report Builder, SQL Server Reporting Services, XML.
  • Experienced in extracting and manipulating data from various sources, databases using reporting tools such as Cognos, Power BI or Tableau.
  • Highly proficient in the use of Excel, Access, PowerPoint with demonstrable understanding of advance Microsoft Office tools (e.g. VBA, Pivot Tables, Lookups, Macros, Array formulas, SQL, data import / export etc).
  • Highly numerate and analytical with strong attention to detail in interpreting data and providing accurate analysis and high quality output to Senior Management / Stakeholders.
  • Impeccable attention to detail and drive to ensure 100% accuracy of Data.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and drive forward the MI capabilities within the team.
  • Strong communication skills, able to deal with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience of working in multi-disciplined team with the ability to identify process improvements and drive forward those changes.
  • A methodical and detailed approach to problem solving, able to analyse and think logically.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to multi-task, prioritise and work to deadlines, using own initiative.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong understanding of confidentiality, information security and data protection.
  • Creative, proactive and innovative – does not accept the status quo.
