Finance Director
MERJE is seeking a highly skilled Finance Director for a leading company in the Lending – Consumer sector.
The Role:
Reporting to the CFO, you would be leading the financial oversight and take responsibility for the financial planning, regulatory reporting, investment oversight, Risk Management and trustee support. You will also play a pivotal role in ensuring the long-term sustainability and compliance of their operations within a regulated environment
Key Responsibilities of the Finance Director:
- Leading the preparation of timely, accurate financial reporting for internal stakeholders, trustees, and regulators ensuring full adherence to FCA Regulations
- Overseeing regulatory submissions, actuarial valuations, and annual Solvency Assessment Reports.
- Monitoring and forecasting trust cash flow, solvency, liquidity ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
- Identifying financial risks and shaping mitigation strategies to safeguard integrity
- Offering clear financial insight to trustees, the CFO, and senior leadership supporting effective decision making
- Playing a key role in strategic planning, sales impact forecasting, and contingency design, including Wind Down Planning.
- Collaborating with auditors, actuaries, investment managers, and the wider leadership team
- Leadership and development of the Finance team whilst driving continuous improvements across financial operations.
Required knowledge and experience for the Finance Director:
- Fully Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
- Demonstrable experience in a senior finance leadership role within a regulated Industry such as Financial Services, Pensions, Insurance, regulated consumer finance or Trust based environments
- Experience of managing complex Financial Operations within an FCA regulated sector
- Proven track record of FP&A, statutory reporting and strategic financial planning and Risk management
- Deep understanding of Financial Modelling and investment portfolio analysis
- Direct experience with actuarial reports and solvency assessments
- High proficiency with financial reporting systems (ERP) and advanced Excel with the ability to interpret and manage financial and solvency data
- Strong understanding of trust regulations and financial compliance
- Excellent leadership and communication skills with stakeholder management experience to liaise with auditors, trustees, actuaries and investment managers.
