We are partnered with a leading Insurance firm who are seeking a Senior Risk Analyst to join their team. This company has an excellent reputation in the industry for providing innovative solutions to their clients. The role will support the Risk Manager in a line 2 capacity, including coverage of Risk, Compliance, and Data Protection & Privacy (DPP) for established clients. The Senior Risk Analyst will predominantly work with the Business area, therefore commercial lines and/or broker experience is essential to the role. 

This role offers a flexible working arrangement with some occasional travel to the office in South Wales. 

Key responsibilities

  • Aid in the development and delivery of a 12-month plan, outlining key Risk, Compliance and DPP activities.

  • Aid how coverage facilitates adherence to the Group frameworks, policies and expectations.

  • Perform key activities in line with the agreed 12-month plan, or as agreed / requested by the Board.   

  • Provide advice and guidance to businesses ensuring this aligns with the risk appetite.

  • Aid in embedding a culture of governance being the responsibility of everyone in the business.

  • Provide regular updates to the Risk Management Committee, and Board regarding progress against the 12-month plan.

  • Provide updates where relevant / requested to Group Risk, Compliance and DPP.

  • Develop and maintain key stakeholder relationships including key persons across all business areas and products, and key persons within Group functions.

  • Arrange periodic touchpoints with Senior Managers and Board members to help facilitate open dialogue and understanding of upcoming priorities and challenges.

  • Adopt a flexible approach in supporting the business that is reflective of the level of risk (current and emerging), materiality, maturity and stakeholder input; reviews, workshops, root cause analysis, sharing of good practice, etc.

  • Responsible for the Business Continuity Plan (BCP) including oversight of local BCP’s for businesses/functions

  • Keep abreast of emerging corporate governance changes in the market and help the business understand the impact of these changes (where relevant in line with Group expectations)

Skills and Experience 

  • Commercial lines or broker experience essential.

  • Able to build open relationships and gain consensus with stakeholders.

  • Pragmatic risk based approach to advice and decision making.

  • Strong influencing and persuasion skills.

  • Ability to work independently and proactively as well as part of a team.

  • Able to multi-task, work under pressure and lead projects.

  • Objective, timely and confident decision-making skills.

  • Attention to detail, with an analytical mindset.

  • Commercially minded.

  • Evidence of working on regulatory submissions.

  • Experience of working in a governance focused role.
