MERJE are working exclusively with a leading Energy trading company in their search for a Head of Trade Surveillance to join their team in London.

This company is a leading Energy & Commodities trading firm and parent company of several well-known brands. They are committed to providing innovative and sustainable solutions to their customers and are passionate about driving change in the industry.

The Head of Surveillance role is critical role ensuring adequate and appropriate framework and controls are in place to mitigate risks across the business and support them through their growth plans.

This is a key leadership role requiring managing teams in multiple locations who are responsible for identifying potential trading anomalies, indications of market abuse and other inappropriate activity. The role involves managing automated monitoring of trade, voice and e-communication activities.

You will be responsible for:

  • Be accountable for managing and maintaining an effective surveillance framework/operating model in line with MAR, REMIT and EMIR obligations
  • Accountable for all aspects of trade and transaction, eComm and voice surveillance across the business.
  • Design and maintain the surveillance strategy aligned with the business strategy and future growth plans
  • Providing guidance and training to team members
  • Collaborate with other departments to identify and mitigate risks
  • Stay up-to-date with regulatory changes and industry developments

Expertise:

  • 8-10 years + of Trade Surveillance experience within a commodity trading firm
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate and build a successful surveillance team.
  • Strong grasp of key regulations, including MAR, REMIT, EMIR, MIFID
  • Defining and maintaining a s surveillance operating model within a growing business (ideally commodity trading)
  • Managing relationships with Executive level stakeholders and supporting
  • Overseeing and sponsoring strategic surveillance change and/or remedial projects
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to interact with people at all levels
