Manchester (City Centre) – Hybrid (3 days office)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Risk Business Partner to join a purpose-driven financial services organisation with a strong social mission. The business is a leneder and their aim is to empower individuals, challenge traditional lending norms, and support long-term financial wellbeing.

The Role

Reporting to the Risk & Compliance Manager, you’ll play a key role in ensuring key risks are identified, assessed, and well controlled across the business. You’ll support teams through ongoing change, helping the organisation achieve its strategic objectives while keeping customer outcomes at the centre of decision-making. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide assurance that key risks are identified and that effective mitigation controls are in place and operating well.

  • Apply risk management expertise to help strengthen the enterprise-wide risk framework.

  • Monitor performance against Risk Appetite Statements, including Board-approved tolerances.

  • Conduct horizon scanning to identify emerging risks, regulatory change and industry trends.

  • Support the management and resolution of risk events and incidents.

  • Lead and assist with Risk & Control Self-Assessments and present findings clearly.

  • Contribute to Audit & Risk activities, including:

    • Supplier and 3rd-party due diligence

    • Policy adherence reviews

    • Delivering risk-based training

    • Representing the business at industry webinars/seminars

  • Regularly monitor compliance across the business and highlight any areas of non-compliance.

  • Stay current with relevant regulatory changes (FCA, ICO, etc.) and evolving best practice.

Minimum Requirements

  • At least 2 years’ experience within regulated financial services, preferably in risk or compliance.

  • Strong understanding of risk and control management frameworks, tools, and methodologies.

Additional Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge of the UK regulatory framework (FCA/ICO).

  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to high standards.

  • Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.

  • Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills, including experience with root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.

  • Confident communicator, able to engage with colleagues at all levels including senior stakeholders.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

Desirable

  • A recognised industry qualification in risk management.

  • Experience using risk management software.
