Management Accountant

MERJE is delighted to be working with an award-winning Financial Services / Banking organisation to recruit a Management Accountant as part of their continued growth and to play a key role in supporting the Financial Controller and the wider business.
The Role
As a Management Accountant, you’ll sit at the heart of the Finance function, supporting high-quality financial control, reporting, and business-wide initiatives within a regulated banking environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Produce monthly management accounts, including journals, balance sheet reconciliations, P&L analysis, and CFO-level commentary
- Manage intercompany accounts, recharges, and cost centre reporting
- Prepare and support tax submissions (VAT, CT, ERS, P11D), working with external advisors where required
- Assist with half-year and year-end accounts in line with IFRS and LSE requirements
- Support and coordinate the external audit process, ensuring timely and smooth delivery
- Identify opportunities to improve financial controls, processes, and automation
- Business partner with stakeholders across the Group on projects and initiatives
- Provide day-to-day oversight and support to junior team members
About You
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)
- Experience of Management Account preparation & production from within the UK Banking Industry is essential with the gravitas to explain variances
- Strong technical accounting knowledge with IFRS exposure
- Experience of Tax accounting (Vat returns etc) would be desirable
- Advanced Excel skills (complex formulas, models, analysis)
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems (NetSuite, Sage, Dynamics desirable)
- A proactive mindset with an interest in process improvement, automation, and change
- Strong communicator, able to influence and collaborate with non-Finance stakeholders
