Interim Risk Manager – Home Based

MERJE are partnering with a leading professional body as they look to strengthen their Risk function with the addition of a Risk Manager to support on an interim basis for a period of 4 months.  The business offers a completely flexible hybrid working policy and the role can be home based with the team getting together in the office 1 day per month.

The Role

You’ll work closely with the Head of Risk & Assurance to support the delivery of our risk framework and internal audit programme—helping ensure strong controls, effective oversight, and continuous improvement across the business.

What You’ll Do

• Assist in the development, implementation, and ongoing refinement of the risk management framework
• Ensure effective governance, robust controls, and continuous improvement across operational, financial, and strategic business areas. 
• Maintain and develop the Corporate Risk Register
• Support risk owners and facilitate risk reviews
• Test controls and provide assurance on effectiveness
• Coordinate internal audits and track actions to completion
• Keep policies up to date and ensure regular reviews
• Prepare clear reports for senior stakeholders and committees

About You

• Experience in risk, audit, or assurance
• Strong knowledge of risk frameworks (e.g. ISO 31000) and audit standards (IIA)
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Analytical, detail-focused, and solutions-driven
• Professional membership (IRM or IIA) preferred

Desirable: Relevant qualification (CIA, CMIIA, ACCA, ICAEW or similar)
