Legal Counsel – Financial Services
Location: Greater Manchester, Hybrid (UK-based)
The Opportunity
We’re supporting a growing and innovative financial services business in the search for a Legal Counsel to join their in-house team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting the organisation’s continued growth by providing pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice across a broad range of matters.
Working closely with the General Counsel and senior stakeholders, you’ll act as a trusted advisor to the business, with a particular focus on commercial law within a regulated financial services environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, negotiate and advise on a wide range of commercial contracts with suppliers, partners and customers
- Provide legal advice to leadership and business teams across areas such as financial services regulation, commercial law, corporate matters, competition and intellectual property
- Support and lead on key business projects, including new product development and strategic initiatives
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders across the business to deliver practical and commercially sound legal solutions
- Keep the General Counsel informed on key matters and provide regular updates
- Support the development of junior team members through knowledge sharing and mentoring
- Stay up to date with relevant legal and regulatory developments, ensuring key updates are communicated internally
- Review and maintain policies and procedures
- Deliver training to internal teams where required
Skills & Experience
- UK-qualified solicitor with experience providing legal advice within a fast-paced environment
- Strong knowledge of English contract law with experience drafting and negotiating a variety of agreements
- Ability to provide clear, pragmatic and solutions-focused legal advice across multiple areas
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly and effectively
- Commercially minded, with a strong understanding of risk and business priorities
