Client Money Safeguarding Officer (CASS)
A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to join a fast-growing UK Payments/FinTech business as a Client Money Safeguarding Officer (CMSO).
Following a sustained period of growth, the business is looking to strengthen its safeguarding and compliance capability with the appointment of an experienced safeguarding professional to play a key role within the organisation’s control framework.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with strong safeguarding/CASS experience to join a dynamic and ambitious business offering genuine long-term progression and visibility across senior leadership.
The Role:
The CMSO will take ownership of the firm’s safeguarding framework, ensuring the effective segregation and protection of client funds in line with the Payment Services Regulations (PSRs), E-Money Regulations, and FCA safeguarding expectations. Acting as the internal Subject Matter Expert (SME) for safeguarding and CASS-related controls, the successful candidate will work closely with Finance, Treasury, Compliance, Risk, Legal, and Operations teams to ensure robust governance and regulatory compliance across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversight of safeguarding and client money processes
- Acting as SME for FCA CASS and safeguarding requirements
- Supporting the design and enhancement of safeguarding frameworks, controls, and policies
- Managing safeguarding reporting and regulatory documentation
- Supporting Treasury operations, liquidity monitoring, and bank account oversight
- Coordinating annual CASS audits and regulatory reviews
- Liaising with senior stakeholders and regulatory bodies where required
Requirements:
- Strong knowledge and practical experience of the FCA’s Client Assets Sourcebook (CASS)
- Experience gained within an FCA-regulated environment where the firm holds or controls client money
- Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining internal controls, policies, and procedures
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
