The Role

The Claims Manager position offers an opportunity to lead a dedicated claims team, overseeing complex claims management, driving operational excellence, and implementing strategic improvements. This role combines technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, ensuring efficient service delivery and team development.

Key Responsibilities of the Claims Manager:

  • Lead and manage the claims team to deliver high-quality, efficient front-line services whilst analysing client feedback and implementing improvements to enhance customer satisfaction
  • Oversee claims management, cost control, and recovery to agreed targets, monitoring and authorising payments and settlements within designated authority levels
  • Provide technical guidance on complex or high-value claims, managing relationships with outsourced providers and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Conduct comprehensive claims data analysis to identify trends and patterns, developing regular management information packages for senior leadership
  • Set clear performance objectives, implement training programmes, and provide ongoing coaching to develop technical expertise and support career progression within the team

Required knowledge and experience for the Claims Manager role:

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in claims handling, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity managing teams and driving performance improvements
  • Extensive expertise in handling Cargo claims and Property & Casualty claims, with thorough understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in insurance, business, or related field preferred
  • Proficiency in claims management systems and MS Office, with strong analytical capabilities for assessing claims data and identifying trends
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to liaise effectively with clients, brokers, internal stakeholders, and regulators
