The UK’s employment rate has remained at record levels, according to figures from the Office for National Statistics, despite a slight rise in unemployment.
The figures, published today, reveals an employment rate (the proportion of people aged from 16 to 64 who were in work) of 74.5%, the joint highest since comparable records began in 1971, with 23.23m people working full time, 362,000 more than for a year earlier, and 8.58m people working part time, 198,000 more than for a year earlier.
