MERJE is excited to present an exceptional opportunity for a Head of Governance, Compliance & Risk in the Charity Sector. This pivotal role offers a chance to lead a team of five, ensuring regulatory compliance and risk management for a respected charity. The successful candidate will shape policies, conduct internal audits, and provide strategic advice to senior management.
£70,000 – £75,000
Location: Remote with occasional travel requirements (1 x office visit per Quarter)

The Role
As Head of Governance, Compliance & Risk, you will be responsible for ensuring the charity’s adherence to regulations and managing all aspects of organisational risk. This permanent, full-time position offers 33 days of annual leave, an 8% pension contribution, and enhanced family leave benefits too!
Key Responsibilities of the Head of Governance, Compliance & Risk:
- Design and implement compliance plans and policies
- Oversee internal audits and control systems
- Provide strategic advice on governance matters to senior management
- Lead on information governance, data protection, and business continuity planning
- Manage a team of five, fostering professional development and compliance awareness
Required knowledge and experience for the Head of Governance, Compliance & Risk role:
- University degree in a business-related field
- At least five years of senior management experience in compliance and risk management
- Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and governance in the charity sector
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage stakeholders effectively
