We are working with an ambitious and growing financial planning firm that is looking to appoint an experienced Paraplanner on a permanent basis. 

The Paraplanner will possess a strong understanding of financial planning principles and be able to provide essential support to the financial advisers. You will be responsible for preparing, researching, and drafting comprehensive financial reports and recommendations, with a particular emphasis on pensions, investment advice, and inheritance tax planning. Your attention to detail and your ability to communicate effectively with financial advisers will be key to your success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Report Preparation: Work closely with financial advisers to prepare detailed and accurate financial plans, recommendations, and suitability reports that meet client needs and objectives, with a strong focus on pensions, investment advice, and inheritance tax planning.
  • Research & Analysis: Conduct thorough research to support financial planning recommendations, ensuring that all recommendations comply with relevant regulations, industry standards, and best practices.
  • Adherence to FCA Consumer Duty Principles: Ensure that all financial advice and reports align with the FCA’s Consumer Duty principles, placing clients’ best interests at the forefront of all recommendations and ensuring transparency and fairness.
  • Communication with Financial Advisers: Maintain clear and professional communication with financial advisers to ensure a strong understanding of client needs and objectives, and to ensure the efficient completion of tasks and reports.
  • Client File Management: Ensure that client files are accurate, up-to-date, and complete, maintaining a strong attention to detail at all times.
  • Compliance & Regulatory Adherence: Ensure all work complies with FCA regulations, internal procedures, and company policies, maintaining a high standard of professionalism in line with industry expectations.
  • Collaboration & Support: Work collaboratively with the wider team to ensure smooth client service delivery, providing assistance and support as required.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of paraplanning experience within a UK IFA firm.
  • Must have experience across a range or products and wrappers, such as, pensions, bonds and trusts.
  • Ideally have experience with complex IHT products such as AIM and BR solutions.
  • Industry qualifications such as Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning (or equivalent) are essential. They will consider candidates who are close to this level but have the necessary experience.
  • A solid understanding of FCA regulations, particularly the Consumer Duty principles.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, ensuring all reports and recommendations are error-free and meet regulatory standards.
  • Strong knowledge of financial planning fundamentals, particularly in the areas of pensions, investment advice, and inheritance tax.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly and concisely to both financial advisers and clients.
