Role Overview

Join a widely recognised, forward thinking, innovation driven financial services business as they look to expand their 1st Line UK Risk Office with the addition of a 1 st Line Risk Manager.

The successful candidate will operate within a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment that values diverse perspectives, fosters innovation, and constructively challenges established practices. As a key contributor, the individual will engage closely across the business and risk functions, as well as with stakeholders in Marketing & Analytics, Compliance, Legal, and Operational Risk Management, gaining broad exposure and influence throughout the organization.

As a Risk Manager in the UK Risk Office, you will provide professional risk judgment to support Customer Operations in tackling major business challenges.  Apply analytical and problem-solving skills to mitigate risks and develop innovative solutions and grow your strategic and influencing skills through creating and implementing risk strategies.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

Develop a deep understanding of business strategies, products, services, and risk profiles.

Assess regulatory changes and their impact on business objectives and risk appetite.

Analyse data to identify risks and trends proactively.

Provide insights that support internal decision-making.

Advise business partners on risk policies and programs.

Collaborate with risk, compliance, legal, and other business functions.

Escalate risk gaps, emerging issues, and regulatory focus areas independently.

Identify opportunities to enhance risk management practices and remove inefficiencies.

Support audits and regulatory exams.

Deliver key risk mitigation and remediation activities.

Present risk topics effectively to stakeholders, including senior leadership.

 

 

Skills & Competencies

Experience within a risk management role within financial services

Knowledge across either 1 st or 2 nd line risk management

Experienced in seeking answers, exploring possibilities, and being data focused to drive evidence-based solutions.

Convey complex ideas concisely, adapt communication for different audiences, comfortable presenting to senior leaders.

Methodical, careful decision-making under uncertainty, avoiding impulsive choices.
