Role Summary – Lead Risk Business Partner
The Risk Business Partner will act as the primary risk contact for the Commercial Chief Operating Officer, providing expert, pragmatic risk advice across transformation, technology, and customer operations. This role requires an experienced insurance risk professional with strong operational risk expertise and working knowledge of conduct risk, capable of supporting complex change programmes while enabling effective risk management within the business.
This role will be initially available on a 6 month fixed term contraxt with the business offering hybrid working and multiple office locations across the UK.
Key Responsibilities

Serve as the Risk Business Partner and primary point of contact for the Commercial COO, providing credible, trusted advice on risk matters across the function.

Act as risk lead for key strategic initiatives, including claims transformation, contact centre improvements, and data development programmes, ensuring risk is appropriately identified, assessed, and managed throughout delivery.

Operate across multiple risk disciplines, with a deep understanding of operational risk and sufficient conduct risk knowledge to act as an initial point of contact, escalating to specialist conduct colleagues where required.

Support the COO with risk management and governance activities, including:

Chairing local risk forums

Advising on material risk issues and emerging risks

Preparing high-quality risk reporting

Designing and monitoring “path to green” plans for out-of-appetite risks

Supporting incident management, reporting, and escalation in line with the risk management framework

Supporting control owners with RCSA activity

Lead a programme of work to embed enhancements to risk management framework within Commercial, including:

Embedding the new risk library

Refreshing the control landscape and risk–control mapping

Improving use of the risk reporting tool

Driving increased risk management maturity across the function

Take a hands-on, delivery-focused approach, striking the right balance between enabling risk and control owners to operate independently and stepping in where needed to ensure the right outcomes.
Profile Required

Extensive experience in risk roles within the insurance industry, with exposure to transformation, technology, and customer operations.

Proven ability to apply risk expertise in a balanced, pragmatic, and commercially aware manner.

Strong stakeholder management skills, with the credibility to operate at senior leadership level.

Comfortable working both strategically and tactically, with a willingness to “roll up sleeves” to deliver change.
